Cloth Diapers
I'm debating whether to use cloth diapers with #2. I've never used cloth before. Enzo was a disposable diaper guy.
I've been doing some reading on the subject, but if there's anyone out there in blogland who's used cloth diapers, I'd love to hear from you.
I talked to my mom, since she used cloth diapers on me and my sister, but that was a looong time ago, and I know things have changed somewhat since then. Believe it or not, she still has some of my old diapers. They make great rags to clean eyeglasses, and are also good burp cloths. Wouldn't want to use them for their original purpose now, as they don't seem all that absorbent anymore.
Anyway, I know that my up-front cost for using cloth will be higher than it was for disposables, because of buying the diapers and assorted supplies. But I know I'd make up the price difference very quickly, because of not spending $30-$40/month on diapers. Plus there's the environmental aspect of it.
The only concern I have is daycare. I don't know how amenable they are to cloth diapers. And if I had to buy disposables for daycare anyway, then I don't know if using cloth at home would be worth it. On a normal workday, Enzo is at daycare for about 10 hours. It would be the same for baby #2. I suppose now is the time to ask about cloth diapers. I've been considering looking for another daycare. We really can't afford to live on only one salary, but having 2 kids at our current daycare based on their ages will be running us $800/month. That's more than our rent. So maybe I should find a less expensive daycare that's cool with cloth diapers...
