Yucky week, day 2

Well, I think I pretty much covered yesterday's general suckiness. My plan was to start to put all that behind me and get the week off on the right foot (finally!). It was not to be.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I've been sleeping on the futon in the living room for the last week and a half since it puts me in close proximity to my new best friend the window air conditioning unit. The alarm clock has remained in our bedroom, where Julian has been sleeping. So each night, he sets the alarm and comes out to wake me up so I can get ready for work. It's been working like a charm...until today. I woke up on my own at about 6:50 this morning. Not bad for an internal alarm, but one slight problem: my shift begins at 6:55. Arrgh! So I called my supervisor to let him know that I was running late, but was coming, got dressed, woke Julian to tell him that I was leaving Enzo at home today, and ran out the door. I was at work by about 7:15. Not exactly the start to the day I was looking for.

The other rotten thing today was that Julian's parents called to tell him that his aunt died. She was his dad's sister and he is leaving Chile early to go back to BA.

In other news, having a "pregnant lady with a stolen purse" sob story helped to get my id badge for work replaced for free. It's normally $10, checks only. Maybe it was the fact that I had no checks, but either way, I'm happy I didn't have to spend that money. Thank heaven for small miracles.

I also went to Target this afternoon and bought some sample sized toiletries to put in my hospital bag. I learnt my lesson with Enzo and overpacked...like I was going on a week-long vacation or something. This time around I have more of an idea of what I'll actually need and use and will be able to take a MUCH smaller bag. While I was at Target, I also registered for more crap. This new baby thing is starting to grow on me. (Bad pun intended.) I should be having a shower at work soon, so I registered for some small things since I really doubt any of my coworkers are going to splurge on the $80 Baby Bjorn diaper bag. Perhaps I should add a digital camera to my registry. I think that out of all the things that were in my purse, that's the item I'm missing the most. Of course, with our current financial status, it's also the hardest to replace.

One last thing: in the midst of the purse chaos, Julian had a job interview for a Bilingual Warehouse Supervisor position. He's not getting that job, since the staffing agency didn't know up front that the position required experience with industrial equipment. Slight oversight on the part of the company. But the staffing agency did have another job that he is qualified for and he should hear something on that in the next day or so. Hopefully this one will work out.
