I love getting mail

Since I was a kid, I've loved to get mail. I'm not talking mail in general, but a card or letter or package. Something that's especially for me and preferably isn't asking me to send money to someone. I get enough of that on a daily basis.

I like getting cards, like for birthdays or other occasions. I like getting postcards from friends that are traveling. I like receiving packages. Earlier in the year when I received two items from my baby registry via UPS, it was exciting. Almost like Christmas. It was unexpected, and I came in from work to a package with my name on it. Wow!

I've explained all that to preface this: over the next couple of weeks, I'm going to be in package heaven. The camera is on its way. There's a package coming from Julian's parents with some clothes that Julian's mother knitted for el bebé. And my 5-year anniversary gift from my company has been ordered and should be here soon.

In this electronic age, it's nice to have someone actually sit down and write a letter rather than sending an email. Is letter-writing a lost art?
